Tasty Scraps, compiled by Ken Hutchins Ebook

Regular price $29.00

As Ken mentioned in the Epilogue of The Renaissance of Exercise, Second Volume (ROE-2), he was considering a book project serving as a collection of articles by himself  and others who wrote for The Exercise Standard (The official newsletter for the SuperSlow Exercise Guild, INC), pre-2004. These articles have not been currently available for nearly 20 years and there are many people who might like to see some of the history from that time. Although Ken has recently published four volumes of the early newsletters, he elected to use some material from the subsequent years (1997, 1998, 1999, and later) in ROE-2. Hence, there were these articles leftover and with no home to form a collection until now.

And as two decades have passed, it was incumbent upon Ken to editorialize within some of the passages within the articles to note dates and/or to mention changes in our stances, if they exist. However, you will find that the overall philosophy that Ken and his followers espoused has not budged much at all.

Please note the bulleted highlights pictured on the front cover.

Don’t be spooked by the unflattering name Ken gives to this book. It contains enlightening information about the lineage from Ling to Zander (by David Landau) and new schematics showing how to make ball squats more practical (though we still prefer the pole squats detailed in Leg Press by Ken Hutchins and Gus Diamantopoulos.). Ken’s Plastiks parody pokes uproarious fun at all the goofy stuff argued about in the fitness industry, and then Ken compares the upending of the 19th century Christian Muscularity craze by Ken Cooper’s-Christian based Aerobics to denigrate exercise for the skeletal muscles.

The transcript of Doug McGuff’s 1997 Key Note Address has many seminal elucidations regarding the medical community that is ironically prescient to our experiences today.
